Description:
The coach dumps a puck low or on the side boards. The Defender starts backwards as soon as the puck is dumped. Quick backwards strides then pivot forward and try to get the puck.
The forechecker starts from the center face-off circle and tries to steer the defender into the boards to steal the puck and score a goal.
The goal of the defender is to bring the puck out of the zone (pylons).
Can be played on both ends with larger group.
The key points are:
- timing to steer defender into boards
- hard puck battles (use stick and body)
- shoulder check, try to escape with puck
